Home Food Preservation Classes at RA and RCC

Start of the New Year by learning a new skill! Sustainable Reston member and Virginia Cooperative Extension Service Master Food Volunteer Diane Blust is teaching four home preservation classes in January and February as part of the RA/RCC Green Living Series – a partnership between Sustainable Reston, RCC and RA. This series will provide you with all the information you need to begin canning and fermenting your own food at home. You will learn about the science and safety involved in home food preservation, how to operate a pressure canner, and participate in two hands on workshops covering water bath canning and fermentation. You will benefit the most from taking all four classes, but you can take just one or two. See below for information on how to sign up.

January 23, 7 pm, RCC Hunters Woods (2310 Colts Neck Rd): Fermentation Workshop

February 6, 7 pm, RCC Hunters Woods (2310 Colts Neck Rd): Pressure Canning Demonstration

February 13, 7 pm, RCC Hunters Woods (2310 Colts Neck Rd): Water Bath Canning Workshop
